Laundry is stealing more of your life than you think.
Most people underestimate laundry because it happens in fragments — ten minutes here, a forgotten load there, forty minutes of folding in front of the TV. Add the fragments up.
How much of your life are you spending on laundry?
Sorting, loading, switching, restarting the load you forgot.
3.7 hours a week · 16 hours a month
Your laundry, annualized
194
hours a year
That's 4.9 work weeks spent doing laundry.
- 49Saturday mornings
- 129Family dinners
- 39Beach days
- 81Full days, over a decade
What would you rather do with 194 hours?
At $259 a month — about $8.50 a day — Laundry Free Club works out to roughly $16.02 per hour you get back, calculated from live membership pricing, not a marketing number.
I Want Those Hours BackHow this calculator works
The math is deliberately simple and conservative: (loads per week × (active minutes per load + folding minutes per load)) × 52 ÷ 60.
"Active minutes" is only the time you are actually doing something — sorting, loading, moving a load to the dryer, restarting a wrinkled load. It does not count machine run time, because you are free during that.
We convert the annual total using four-hour Saturday mornings, 90-minute family dinners and five-hour beach days. The cost-per-hour figure comes from live Laundry Free Club pricing ($259 a month), so it stays accurate if our pricing changes.
Typical household numbers
| Household | Loads / week | Hours / year |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 people | 3–4 | ≈ 80–110 |
| Family of 3 | 5–6 | ≈ 130–165 |
| Family of 4 | 7–8 | ≈ 180–225 |
| Family of 5+ | 9–12 | ≈ 230–310 |
Ranges assume 12 active minutes and 20 folding minutes per load. Your own numbers will be better than our averages — use the calculator.
You can't buy the hours back later.
The laundry will keep arriving either way. The only question is whether you're the one handling it.
